On Thursday April 11, 2024, VFW Post 9592 held their 2023-24 Youth Scholarship Awards Night at the Post. The Post Commander, Nicholas Laino and Auxiliary President, Frances Inslee, presented scholarship awards to the Post's 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of the both the Patriot's Pen Essay Contest and the Voice of Democracy Audio/Essay Contest.
During the ceremony, Youth Scholarship Coordinator and Committee Chaiman, Peter Stasinski, introduced the student winners and recognized them for their accomplishments.
For the Patriot's Pen Essay Contest, which was opened to students in middle school grades, the following students received a monetary scholarship award and a certificate of accomplishment:
Ethan Tyler Butov of Jonas E Salk Middle School - 1st Place.
Cole E. Yee of Island Trees Middle School - 2md Place.
Alexa Skye Fermaglich of Jonas E. Salk Middle School - 3rd Place.
For the Voice of Democracy Audio/Essay Contest, which is opened to students in high school grades, the following students received a monetary scholarship award and a certificate of accomplishment:
Ava R.B. Enea of Division Ave High School - 1st Place.
Elizabeth R. Parascondola - General Douglas Macarthur High School - 2nd Place.
Giovanni P. Coppola - Division Ave High School - 3rd Place.
VFW Post 9592 and its Auxiliary congratulates all the winners and thanks all school staff and administrators, from both the Levittown and Island Trees School Districts, for their support in encouraging student participation in these contests.
