Commander Nicholas Laino
Comrades,
The
month of March is upon us. During this month we will remember both the start of
the Iraq War and the end of U.S. combat operations in the Vietnam War. We will
remember all those who served during these wars, especially those who were wounded
or who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
March
will also take us out of winter and into spring and we will be guaranteed a St.
Patrick’s Day Parade or two during the month which we can attend with friends
our family
Finally,
on Friday March 14th at 8pm during our General Meeting at the Post,
we will start our first round of nominations for Post Officers. The second
round of nominations and subsequent elections will be held during our general
Meeting Friday April 11th.
Comrades,
I hope you will make every effort to attend these meetings. I also ask, if you
are not currently running for an elected position, that you consider taking an
appointed officer position, a Committee Chairperson position or, at the least, become
an active member of a committee.
It is
no secret that in order for a Post to be successful the Members must be active
in either the administration or the operations of the Post. I challenge all our
members, but most especially our newer and younger members, to take the leap
and jump into a leadership role in the Post. Yes, some of the tasks will be new
to you, but I assure you we have seasoned members who are standing by to mentor
you. I also know that you may be concerned about how much time you will be
required to dedicate to certain positions. Well, you won’t know unless you talk
to our seasoned members.
In the end if you choose not to take a leadership position, I hope you will seek information about the different committees and programs that are operating to serve our Veterans, our Military and our Community and make it a goal to choose one and become an active Member Participant.
In
Comradeship
